Oliver Miles ne veut pas de Juifs dans commission d'enquête sur la guerre d'Irak

Oliver Miles, ancien ambassadeur du Royaume-Uni en Lybie, et actuellement lobbyiste pro-arabe, a indiqué au Independent on Sunday qu'il regrette que la commission d'enquête chargée de clarifier les circonstances de l'entrée en guerre contre l'Irak ne soit pas Judenfrei. En avril 2004, 52 anciens ambassadeurs adressèrent une lettre à Tony Blair lui demandant de reconsidérer la politique du gouvernement par rapport à Israël et à l'Irak - Oliver Miles était l'un des co-signataires.

The usual suspects are making a fuss since it was discovered after an exhumation that Palestinian terrorist leader Yasser Arafat might have been poisoned with polonium and the finger might be pointed at Israel.

I have seen acres of breast-beating journalism about the Palestinian misery but never an examination into where all the donated money has gone over the years. For this is certain: Arab donors and a generous non-Arab world have donated many billions to the Palestinian cause.

Take the Gaza strip. It is a bloc of land 25 miles long and six miles wide on the eastern shore of the Mediterranean.  Its northern and eastern borders are Israel, its 11-mile southern border is Egypt and its western border the glittering Med. Over the years since the founding of Israel in 1948 literally billions of pounds have been donated to help its people have a decent life.

If it had been invested shrewdly and well Gaza today could be a mini-Monaco. It could have a deepwater freight port, a flourishing fishing port and a leisure harbour crammed with the yachts of wealthy visitors. It could have resort hotels on the sea and farms, ranches and orchards in the hinterland producing nutritious food.

My first instinct was to ask, “Were you misbehaving?”

“No,” Dylan told me through his tears.

I stared at him. And suddenly I had an awful realization of what might have caused the man’s outrage: Dylan was wearing a Star of David.

After calming him down, I went to the pool and asked the attendants to point out the man who had yelled at him. We talked. It was not a pleasant discussion. Afterward, I sat down with my son and said: “Dylan, you just had your first taste of anti-Semitism.”

In my opinion there are three reasons anti-Semitism is appearing now with renewed vigilance.

The first is that historically, it always grows more virulent whenever and wherever the economy is bad. In a time when income disparity is growing, when hundreds of millions of people live in abject poverty, some find Jews to be a convenient scapegoat rather than looking at the real source of their problems.

If we confront anti-Semitism … if we combat it individually and as a society, and use whatever platform we have to denounce it, we can stop the spread of this madness.

A second root cause of anti-Semitism derives from an irrational and misplaced hatred of Israel. Far too many people see Israel as an apartheid state and blame the people of an entire religion for what, in truth, are internal national-policy decisions. Does anyone really believe that the innocent victims in that kosher shop in Paris and at that bar mitzvah in Denmark had anything to do with Israeli-Palestinian policies or the building of settlements 2,000 miles away?  SUITE.

L'Iran construit un mur d'"apartheid" de 700 km à la frontière afghane

Selon l'agence de presse iranienne, Farsi News Agency, et la chaîne de télévision Press TV, l'Iran va contruire un mur de ciment surélevé de fil barbelé de 435 miles (700 km) de long qui longera l'intégralité de sa frontière avec l'Afghanistan. Le mur viserait à empêcher l'entrée de narcotiques dans le territoire iranien. Il est prévu que sa construction du mur sera terminée en mars 2010.

Qui élève donc des protestations contre ce mur d'"apartheid" ? Qui s'emprassera de déposer une plainte auprès de la Cour internationale de justice ? Ce qu'on peut dire avec assurance c'est que la confiance et l'amitié règnent entre ces deux pays musulmans. Et que les défenseurs des droits de l'homme vont se taire dans toutes les langues de la planète.

"Here’s an interesting tidbit from Stratfor: "Iran will build a 435 mile-long cement wall topped with barbwire along 100 percent of the border between Iran and Afghanistan to prevent the entry of narcotics from Afghanistan, Farsi News Agency reported July 30. The proposed wall is scheduled to be completed by March 2010."

A "report" on Press TV - the Iranian backed Holocaust-denial outfit which masquerades as a legitimate news organization - approvingly quotes the deputy head of Iran’s Drug Control Headquarters on the wall. "Taha Taheri noted that the barriers will be constructed along the 700-km (435-mile) border between the two countries. He stressed that the move is aimed at halting drug trafficking from Afghanistan to Iran," it says.

For good measure, the report is headlined: "Iran to build huge wall along Afghan border." I suppose it’s too much to expect that Press TV might understand irony.

So can we expect massive protests against this apartheid wall? Or at least an ICJ [Cour pénale internationale] ruling?

For the record, I don’t really think this constitutes an "apartheid" wall. To use this term to describe a structure aimed at curbing drug trafficking makes about as much sense as using it to describe a similar - though smaller and less fortified - structure which has successfully curbed murderous terrorist attacks on innocents going about their daily business. Right?"

J'ai traduit un extrait du discours prononcé à l'occasion du dîner annuel de l'Association Anglo-Israélienne par l'historien Andrew Roberts sur la politique du Foreign Office (Ministère des Affaires étrangères). Celui-ci interdit aux membres de famille royale britannique de se rendre en Israël en voyage officiel. Andrew Roberts dénonce les agissements du Foreign Office à l'égard d'Israël - son discours est remarquable et mérite d'être lu en entier. (Il est possible d'en obtenir un traduction grâce à Google traduction).

"Un domaine de la politique dans lequel traditionnellement le Foreign Office exerce beaucoup d'influence est la question de la destination des visites royales. Ce n'est donc pas un hasard si, bien qu'au cours de son règne, Sa Majesté a effectué plus de 250 visites officielles à l'étranger dans 129 pays différents, ni elle, ni aucun membre de la famille royale britannique, n'a jamais été en visite officielle en Israël. De surcroît, malgré le fait que la mère du Prince Philip, la Princesse Alice de Grèce, qui a été reconnue comme "Juste parmi les Nations" pour avoir caché une famille juive dans sa maison d'Athènes pendant la Shoah, soit inhumée dans le Mont des Oliviers, le duc d'Edimbourg n'a reçu qu'en 1994 [la Princesse étant décédée en 1969] l'autorisation du Foreign Office d'aller se recueillir sur sa tombe, et ce seulement dans le cadre d'une visite privée.

Lorsque le Prince Edward fit un voyage privé en Israël à titre privé, un attaché de presse du Palais a expliqué que "Les visites officielles sont organisées et décidées sur les conseils du Foreign and Commonwealth Office". Un porte-parole du Foreign Office a précisé que "Israël n'est pas un cas unique" du fait de ne pas avoir reçu de visite royale officielle, dans la mesure où "Beaucoup de pays n'ont pas reçu de visites officielles". Cela pourrait être vrai pour le Burkina Faso et le Tchad, mais le Foreign Office a réussi, au fil des ans, à envoyer la reine en visite d'état en Libye, en Iran, au Soudan, au Koweït, au Bahreïn, au Qatar, aux Émirats arabes unis, à Oman, en Arabie saoudite, en Tunisie, en Algérie, au Maroc, en Jordanie et en Turquie. On ne peut donc pas évoquer comme raison qu'elle n'a jamais séjourné dans la région.

Peut-être que dans l'optique du Foreign Office Sa Majesté n'est pas sur le trône depuis assez longtemps, c'est-à-dire depuis 57 ans, pour lui permettre de visiter l'une des seules démocraties au Moyen-Orient. Au moins, en Israël elle pouvait être assurée d'un accueil chaleureux, contrairement au Maroc où le Roi l'a fait atendre pendant trois heures par une température de 32°, ou à l'avant-dernière réunion des chefs de gouvernement du Commonwealth en Ouganda, la construction de son hôtel n'était pas terminée.

La vraie raison, bien sûr, c'est que le Foreign Office interdit les visites officielles de la famille royale en Israël, et cette pratique est d'autant plus puissante qu'elle n'est ni actée ni reconnue. En tant qu'acte de délégitimation d'Israël, ce boycott efficace est tout aussi grave que d'autres actes similaires, tel le boycott universitaire, et la faute incombe directement aux arabisants du Foreign Office."

Un article remarquable par George Will, un des éditorialistes américains les plus distingués.  Lauréat du prix Pullitzer; il est, selon le Wall Street Journal, "probablement le journaliste le plus influent d'Amérique".  On est obligé de constater qu'un article aussi remarquable ne paraît qu'exceptionnellement dans la presse européenne - même réputée de droite - où l'on privilégie depuis belle lurette des messages hostiles à Israël comme ceux de Chris Patten (Oui, Gaza est bien une prison !) ou de Vaclav Havel (L’Humanité est en jeu à Gaza).

Pendant la visite du Premier ministre Binyamin Netanyahou en juillet à Washington, Barack Obama a salué le fait qu'il était "prêt à prendre des risques pour la paix." Il fut un temps où cela signifiait échanger des  "territoires contre la paix" - Israël sacrifiait quelque chose de tangible et d'irrécupérable, la profondeur stratégique, en échange de quelque chose d'intangible et de périssable, des promesses de normalité diplomatique.

Holy Land wildlife goes forth and multiplies in Africa - The once virtually extinct Saharan scimitar-horned oryx has gotten a new lease on life thanks to an Israeli breeding program.

A breeding program for the once-extinct African antelope species is underway successfully at Yotvata.

It's an old biblical tenet enacted by the Jewish forefather Noah: Go forth and multiply. In modern Israel, sadly, much of the country's impressive wildlife that once roamed the region, including the majestic leopards, bears and the mythological "unicorn" -- a type of antelope -- are now virtually extinct.

But not entirely, thanks to Israeli breeding programs.

Around 1993, the late Gen. Avraham Yoffe, the first director of Israel's Nature and Parks Authority, mounted an effort at the Hai Bar Yotvata Nature Reserve to save an African antelope species classified extinct in the wild. A breeding program for a local species of antelope, believed to be the biblical "unicorn," was already underway there.

At this reserve 30 miles north of Eilat, the scimitar-horned oryx -- its Latin name is Oryx dammah -- got a new lease on life with the help of Yoffe and American-Israeli Bill Clark, an animal conservationist and licensed pilot. The hot, dry weather there proved perfect for breeding African wildlife, even though the Saharan oryx is believed never to have traveled naturally beyond the Nile's northern limits.

La Chine va construire le réseau ferroviaire d’Israël à Eilat

Shaul Bitterman, qui représente les sociétés gouvernementales chinoises en Israël, a confié à la revue économique "Globes" qu'une délégation du ministère chinois des Transports arriverait en Israël au mois de février dans le cadre de ce projet.

La Chine va faire équipe avec Israël pour construire sa nouvelle voie ferrée depuis Tzin Nahal jusqu'à la station balnéaire de la mer Rouge d'Eilat.  La Chine, qui a construit les tunnels du Carmel à Haïfa, a été aussi choisie pour développer le chemin de fer de la ville de Carmiel-Haïfa.  La nation asiatique est également appelée à jouer un rôle significatif dans le développement d'autres éléments du réseau national ferroviaire et du réseau routier de l'Etat juif.

Les 21 Etats de la Ligue arabe annoncent régulièrement des projets de nouvelles constructions. L'Arabie saoudite estime que 555.000 logements ont été construits au cours des dernières années. Le Premier ministre irakien Nouri al-Maliki a annoncé l'année dernière lors d'une réunion à Bagdad que "Quelque 10.000 logements d'une surface de 100 m2 seront construits dans chaque province [d'Irak]" pour accueillir les citoyens dont les besoins en logement n'ont pas été satisfaits depuis longtemps. L'Egypte a créé 10 nouvelles villes depuis 1996. Ce sont Tenth of Ramadan, Six of October, Al Sadate, Shurouq Al, Al Obour, New Damietta, New Beni Souef, New Assiout, New Luxor et New Cairo.

As a boy, Pieter van Oordt would often accompany his father, Karel, on the elder van Oordt’s weekly shopping excursions specifically seeking out products made in Israel.

A Christian Zionist businessman in Amersfoort, some 25 miles east of Amsterdam, Karel van Oordt sought to strengthen the Jewish state economically by purchasing its exports to feed his family of eight. But it wasn’t easy.

“At the greengrocer, my father asked for Jaffa oranges, but they didn’t offer those,” Pieter van Oordt recalled. “Then at the liquor store, dad asked for Israeli wines. Same reply.”

Four decades later, those Israeli goods and thousands more are available across the Netherlands thanks to the international advocacy group founded by Karel van Oordt in 1979. Pieter and his brother, Roger, have run Christians for Israel since their father’s death in 2013.

Through its own import agency, the Israel Products Center, or IPC, the organization brings in 120,000 bottles of Israeli wine each year, as well as many tons of Dead Sea cosmetics and other merchandise. Most of the products are sold in IPC’s own store, on its website or by a corps of 200 volunteer door-to-door sales agents, a majority of them women.

The effort is unique in Europe, and not only because IPC profits are distributed annually among a small group of shareholders who reinvest the money back into the business. Also because IPC openly promotes the sale of settlement goods, part of a conscious effort to bolster the settler movement and push back against European efforts to distinguish them from goods produced in Israel proper.

Last month, in a letter in the company’s new catalog, Pieter van Oordt, who runs IPC, specifically urged his customers to purchase two brands of wine, dates and olive products produced in the West Bank.

“Now the government wants to say on our products that they’re not from Israel,” said Pieter van Oordt, referring to the adoption in November of EU regulations mandating that goods produced in Israeli settlements are labeled as originating in Palestinian territory. “So we must tell our customers that it’s not true.”

Most IPC customers probably agree with van Oordt. The company’s most dedicated patrons are ideological supporters of the Christians for Israel movement, which is popular among European Protestants who believe it is their religious and moral duty to help Jews return to their ancestral lands.

LONDON – A report published by a Jewish community organization on Thursday highlights how old anti-Semitic themes to depict Israel and Zionism have become more widespread in mainstream British circles during the past year.

Comparisons of Israel and its supporters to Nazi Germany have become increasingly common among the public, and anti-Semitic conspiracy themes are being used more freely in conversation, the “Anti-Semitic Discourse in Britain in 2009” indicated.  The 57-page report was published by the Community Security Trust, which monitors anti- Semitism and provides security for the Jewish community in Britain.

New York, NY – The Hudson Institute and the Touro College Institute on Human Rights and the Holocaust today announced an historic conference targeting manifestations of racism, anti-Semitism and other forms of intolerance at the United Nations. The conference will coincide with the highly controversial UN event known as “Durban III.” Organizers were galvanized, according to Anne Bayefsky, a Senior Fellow of the Hudson Institute and Director of the Touro College Institute on Human Rights and the Holocaust, after learning that “Americans will be mourning the 10th anniversary of September 11, 2001 at the same time as the United Nations will appear to be legitimizing the kind of intolerance that drives terrorism itself.”

“Durban III” is intended to “commemorate” the 10th anniversary of the UN-sponsored anti-Semitic hatefest that took place in Durban, South Africa in 2001. The final product of that conference – the Durban Declaration – charged Israel with racism, the only one of the UN’s 192 state members so accused. Led by Congressman and Holocaust survivor Tom Lantos, the United States – along with Israel – walked out of Durban I in disgust.

Bayefsky points out that “The Durban conference legitimized hate speech on a global scale.” At the widely-perceived racist “anti-racism” conference, the streets were filled with signs such as “for the liberation of Quds machine guns based on faith and Islam must be used,” and handouts with Hitler’s photo read “What if I had won? The good things: there would be no Israel…” Durban I ended three days before 9/11. The Durban Review Conference, or Durban II, was held in Geneva in 2009, and the only world leader to attend was Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

The one-day conference will be a call to action. “Given the events that Durban III is intended to commemorate,” Bayefsky noted, “the UN will sadly serve as a global platform to promote the inverse of its original purposes and principles. It is imperative to deny legitimacy to prejudice and the Durban Declaration.”
