Israël-bashing: 62 Euro-députés pour la suspension de l’Accord d’association UE-Israël

Malgré l'énorme crise que traverse l'Europe et le rejet croissant par les citoyens des institutions européennes, 62 membres du Parlement européen s'attaquent à Israël (pas à l'Arabie Saoudite, pas au Qatar, pas à l'Iran, pays qui, comme on sait, respectent les droits de l'homme).  Il s'agit d'une bande de gauchistes, communistes et d'écolos - à l'exceptions de quatre socialistes Ana Gomes, Nessa Childers, Tanja Fajo, Maria Arena et de cinq de droite: Javier Nart, Marian Harkin, Ivo Vajgl, Fernando Maura Barandiarán, Sirpa Pietikäinen). 

On apprend donc que "Un groupe de 63 députés européens  influents a interpellé Federica Mogherini, Haute représentante de l’Union pour les affaires étrangères, en faveur de la suspension de l’Accord d’Association UE-Israël qui est le principal traité entre l’UE et Israël [en fait 62 - la Française Marie Christine Vergiat est répertoriée 2 x]. Par cette initiative transpartidaire unique, c’est la première fois qu’autant de députés européens se prononcent pour des mesures aussi sévères contre Israël depuis le massacre de plus de 2 300 Palestiniens l’été dernier à Gaza."  Ce qui saute aux yeux c'est que parmi les signataires ne se trouve aucun représentant de partis d'extrême-droite, de soit-disant eurosceptiques et populistes.  Ca ferait évidemment mauvais genre au milieu de cet aréopage d'Israël-bashers prescripteurs de morale politique sélective, mais leur présence aurait permis d'allonger singulièrement la liste...  La palme revient aux femmes - majoritaires - et aux Espagnols dont 17 parlementaires ont signé l'appel - et on y trouve Pablo Iglesias le nouveau génie de la politique ibérique.  Pour ajouter un peu de folklore l'un s'identifie comme Basque (Josu Juaristi) et une autre comme Galicienne (Lidia Rodriguez Senra)... Les Israël-bashers français sont: Patrick Le Hyaric, Younous Omarjee, Marie Christine Vergiat,  José Bové, Karima Delli, Pascal Durand,Yannick Jadot, Eva Joly et Michèle Rivasi.

À l’Honorable Haute Représentante,

Comme vous le savez, plus de 300 groupes de défense des droits humains, de syndicats et de partis politiques de toute l’Union européenne vous ont écrit appelant l’UE à suspendre l’Accord d’association entre l’UE et Israël. Amnesty International et des organisations palestiniennes ont documenté qu’Israël a délibérément ciblé des civils et commis d’autres crimes de guerre lors de sa récente offensive contre les Palestiniens à Gaza. Ce sont des violations graves du droit international et du droit international humanitaire qui ne peuvent être tolérées.  [...]

À tout le moins, nous demandons instamment à la Commission d’examiner quelles mesures doivent être prises pour que l’UE et ses Etats membres répondent à leur obligation légale, comme indiqué dans la décision de 2004 de la Cour internationale de Justice, de ne pas apporter reconnaissance, aide ou assistance aux violations israéliennes du droit international, y compris en imposant des mesures restrictives sur le commerce et les relations économiques qui facilitent l’existence et l’expansion des colonies israéliennes illégales.

Nous vous exhortons à prendre des mesures fortes en faveur d’une paix juste entre Israël et les Palestiniens.

Europe: nous détestons Israël parce que nous nous détestons nous-mêmes

Ce qui est nouveau c'est que les Israéliens ne se sentent plus obligés de se justifier ni de s'excuser d'exister. Ils s'assument et ils assument et défendent leurs valeurs.  C'est ce que Brendan O'Neill  nous dit si bien après avoir visité Israël. Dans son analyse, iI rejoint le philosophe Pierre Manent: "Le peuple juif, en revenant en Israël, a accompli sa "sortie d'Europe". Je veux dire: grâce au rétablissement de son État, il a cessé d'être dépendant spirituellement des nations européennes dans lesquelles il vivait ou vit encore. C'est l'issue d'une très longue séquence historique. Ce n'est pas seulement la conséquence de la destruction des Juifs d'Europe; c'est aussi la suite de l'effacement de soi auquel les nations européennes travaillent depuis vingt ans avec un zèle qui étonne. Étant ainsi "sorti d'Europe", le peuple juif invite l'Europe à dire son nom. Il lui demande son nom."

@ Spectator : Israelis don’t care that we hate them. But they’d like to know why.  Extraits:

"Israel is a rogue state for the right-on. It’s the state that it’s super hip to hate. But why? Israel-bashers will say, ‘Duh, it’s because of its crazy military antics,’ but that doesn’t add up. Israel’s militarism today is of a far smaller order than it was during the Six-Day War of 1967, and back then most Westerners, including radical leftists, supported the Zionist project.

I think that Israel reminds us of our older selves, our pre-EU, pre-green days, when we, too, believed in borders, sovereignty, progress, growth.

The Chinese are connoisseurs of civilization. For thousands of years they have absorbed ethnicities into their own culture, eliminating on occasion tribes that proved too troublesome. They have watched other civilizations come and go; they have seen their younger neighbors adopt parts of their culture and then try to assert their superiority, and ultimately fail. They are the last people on earth to accept the liberal Western dogma that every culture is valid within its own terms of reference, for they have seen too many civilizations fail of their own flaws.

There is no greater compliment to any culture than to be admired by Chinese, who with some justification regard their civilization as the world’s most ancient and, in the long run, most successful. The high regard that the Chinese have for Jews should be a source of pride to the latter. In fact, it is very pleasant indeed for a Jew to spend time in China. The sad history of Jew-hatred has left scars on every European nation, but it is entirely absent in the world’s largest country. On the contrary, to the extent that Chinese people know something of the Jews, their response to us is instinctively sympathetic.

“I am always surprised by the expressions of affection that the Chinese show for the Jews. Both cultures, the Chinese emphasize, share respect for family, learning and, yes, money,” wrote the journalist Clarissa Sebag-Montefiore last year. “Most Chinese will think Jews are smart, clever or good at making money, and that they have achieved a great deal,’ Professor Xu Xin, director of the Institute of Jewish Studies at Nanjing University (one of over half a dozen centers in China dedicated to studying Judaism) told me last week”, she wrote. “This logic — that the Jews are admired for their success despite their small numbers and historical oppression — has also led to a burgeoning industry of self-help books that use Jewish culture and the Talmud to preach business tips.”

Family, learning, respect for tradition, business acumen: these are Jewish traits that the Chinese also consider to be their virtues. All this is true as far as it goes. One might also mention that China never has had reason to view the Jews as competitors for legitimacy.

Salman Rushdie dénonce l'obsession d'Israël en Occident

Rien à ajouter aux propos de Salman Rushdie.  De nos jours même la simple constatation que le monde est en train de changer radicalement, notamment - pour le meilleur ou le pire dans le monde arabe - est difficile à admettre.  Il est plus facile de continuer à alimenter ses petites obsessions sur Israël (comme Elie Barnavi, JCALL, Stéphane Hessel, le Monde Diplomatique, etc etc.).  Il est vrai que porter un regard lucide sur le changement de notre monde fait peur et pendant qu'on se focalise sur Israël on ne pense pas aux menaces qui pourraient nous affecter profondément.

Des Eurodéputés assistent à une réception en l'honneur de terroristes palestiniens

"Each of the 26 men has their own story of assassination to tell. Many of their victims were ordinary Israelis who were trying to make a living. Many of them were old and caught defenseless. Although these men were released as a goodwill gesture, they are still criminals. The Members of the European Parliament who attended the reception in Ramallah brought the EU and its values into disrepute because the endorsement and support of convicted criminals is not acceptable and undermine the credibility of the EU as an honest broker." EJP rapporte que l'eurodéputé italien, Fiorello Provera, a dénoncé le fait qu'une délégation du Parlement européens à assisté en octobre à une cérémonie officielle en l'honneur de 26 terroristes palestiniens libérés par Israël dans le cadre des difficiles négociations de paix.  L'identité des eurodéputés, comme d'habitude, n'a pas été dévoilée.  Les eurodéputés adorent ce genre de voyages qui se comptent par centaines! Il est tout à fait navrant que les dirigeants juifs européens, très discrets, n'ont rien dit!

M. Provera - le seul apparemment à protester - a rappelé les faits d'armes de ces "héros". Comme le dit Alya Press, ils ont "tué des Juifs à la hache, par le feu, les armes, les pierres".  Avec de pareils représentants, et le silence des autres, il ne faut pas s'étonner que les Européens sont de plus en plus eurosceptiques.  

M. Provera a mentionné quatre "héros" palestiniens (pour en savoir plus sur les autres cliquer ICI): 

Matslah Abdallah Salama est allé, avec un complice dans le mini-marché où travaillait M. Reuven David.  Il l'a ligoté, bâillonné et battu à mort, avant de s’enfuir dans la voiture de la victime. 

Abu-Musa Salam Ali Atia a été reconnu coupable de l’assassinat d’Isaac Rotenberg [photo] de Holon dans le cadre d’un rite d’initiation pour se joindre à une organisation terroriste.  Survivant de l’Holocauste Isaac Rotenberg est né en Pologne. La plupart de sa famille a été assassinée dans le camp de la mort de Sobibor, mais Isaac a réussi à s’échapper et a rejoint les partisans. Après la guerre, il a essayé de faire son chemin par bateau vers la Palestine sous mandat, mais a été arrêté par les Britanniques, et envoyé dans un camp de détention à Chypre jusqu’en 1947. Après sa libération, Isaac est arrivé en Israël et a combattu pendant la guerre d’Indépendance. Il a continué son travail de plâtrier, même après l’âge de la retraite et en mars 1994 étant sur son lieu de travail à Petah Tikva, quand il a été attaqué par deux ouvriers palestiniens. Il est mort, âgé de 67 ans, deux jours plus tard.

"What amuses me is that the BDS movement with their self-important, self-righteous posturing and their quiet glee that they can now trumpet their anti-Semitism under the guise of anti-Zionism (and I include self-hating Jews in that) probably think that they will somehow bring down the state of Israel. The Guardian remplace le nom de 'Israël' par 'Moyen Orient'

Le journal britannique The Guardian est connu pour sa rhétorique hostile à Israël qui se traduit par la publication de toutes sortes d'articles et de tribunes dont le contenu dénigre Israël, voire la communauté juive. Visiblement les effets de leurs campagnes de dénigrement ne produisent pas les effets escomptés car le quotidien re-re-re-renouvelle ses attaques presque quotidiennement.

Le site  CIF Watch a été créé pour rendre compte de cette hostilité du Guardian.  CIF Watch s'est aperçu (curieuse omission) que dans la section "Vacances" (Guardian Holiday Offers) où le journal propose des voyages organisées à ses lecteurs le nom d'Israël a purement et simplement été remplacé par "Moyen Orient".  Or le "package touristique" s'intitule: "Jérusalem, la Galilée et la Mer Morte".

Dans la section "Itinéraire", il n'y a pas la moindre référence à l'Etat d'Israël, mais CIF Watch a relevé que tout ce que y est proposé se trouve (à une seule exception) en ... Israël:

Espagne: cinq industriels israéliens agressés à l'Université autonome de Madrid

200 'pacifistes' contre 5 ... La majorité des émeutiers étaient musulmans ...

Plusieurs universitaires espagnols qui essayent d'ouvrir (pacifiquement) à coups de poings et de pieds la voiture où se sont réfugiés les citoyens israéliens (7/06, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid). 

"Five Israeli businessmen were attacked on Monday by pro-Palestinian activists during a conference at the Autonomous University of Madrid.

Some 200 anti-Israel protestors burst into the hall and prevented the opening of panel discussions.

The protestors threw stones, paint and other objects at the police patrol cars as they were heading out of the institution. One of the Israelis, Emefcy CEO Eytan Levy, was hit by a rock that shattered the windshield of one of the police vehicles. Levy was treated at scene but asked not to be evacuated to a hospital. Madrid police launched an investigation into the incident, but no arrests have been made as of yet. Most of the rioters were Muslim, police said."
