Paris attack shows France’s appeasement of Palestinians and Islamists failed

Less than three months ago, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry claimed that there was a link between Islamist terrorism and frustration over the Palestinian issue. Yet despite vigorous recent attempts by the French to champion the Palestinian cause, Islamist terrorists have just struck in Paris, killing 12 people at the offices of the satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo. Where did Kerry’s theory go wrong?

At an Oct. 18, 2014 State Department event celebrating the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha, Kerry presented his linkage theory. Discussing the phenomenon of young Muslims flocking to the ranks of Islamist terror groups such as the Islamic State, Kerry said that the issue of “Israel and the Palestinians” is “a cause of recruitment and of street anger and agitation” among Muslims worldwide.

If Kerry were correct, then one would expect the Islamist extremist groups to refrain from harming those who embrace the Palestinian cause. And France certainly has been at the forefront of pro-Palestinian activism, especially in recent weeks.  On Dec. 2, the French parliament voted overwhelmingly to demand that the French government immediately recognize the “State of Palestine.” Not after negotiations. Not with Israel’s agreement. Just do it right away, whether the Israelis like it or not. And the vote wasn’t even close—339 in favor, 151 against.

Four weeks later, the Palestinian Authority presented a resolution to the United Nations Security Council, setting a timetable for Israel to unilaterally withdraw from all of Judea, Samaria, and most of Jerusalem. That is, back to the pre-1967 armistice lines that Abba Eban said would make Israel so vulnerable that it would set the stage for another Holocaust.

That position is so extreme that even the Obama administration, which has not exactly been Israel’s warmest friend, opposed the resolution. Yet France joined with those stalwarts of reason and democracy, China and Russia, to support the resolution. France’s ambassador to the United Nations, explaining his country’s vote in favor of the resolution, said there was “an urgent need to act.”

Le Parlement européen ne veut pas de taskforce sur l'antisémitisme en Europe

Alors que les beaux discours et les belles proclamations contre l'antisémitisme foisonnent en Europe comme celle de l'inénarrable chef de la politique étrangère de l'UE Federica Mogheriniqui qui était l’hôte de la célébration annuelle de Hanoucca organisée à Bruxelles par le Centre communautaire juif européen: "L'antisémitisme à travers l'Europe est en hausse et doit être traité et combattu de manière décisive", le Parlement européen a rejeté la proposition de former un groupe de travail sur précisément l'antisémitisme en Europe, alors que 28 inter-groupes sont consacrés au vin, à la préservation animale etc.  Cette décision est passée inaperçue.  Seul le Jewish Chronicle s'en est ému dans un article du 18 décembre intitulé MEPs reject taskforce on antisemitism.  Extraits:

Campaigners working to combat antisemitism have attacked the European Parliament's decision not to form a special group to tackle Jew-hatred across the continent.

Despite forming groups to deal with issues including wine, fishing and animal conservation, a proposal for a dedicated antisemitism taskforce was rejected by MEPs in Brussels last Thursday.  There are 28 new "intergroups" which contain politicians from all parties and are used for informal discussions and meetings with charities, think-tanks and members of the public. One group will consider "anti-racism and diversity" but there will be no specialist body dealing with antisemitism.

The JC understands more than 100 MEPs had pledged their support for a working group to tackle the rise of Jew-hatred across the continent. All of the European parliament's political groupings had also backed the plan. Jardena Lande, director of the Inter-parliamentary Coalition for Combating Antisemitism (ICCA), said: "We had some amazing support from individual MEPs but when it came to the groups voting, they did not go for it. They accepted one on general racism because it is not exclusive to any one group. But given the climate and the year we have had, it's very disappointing." Ms Lande said the European Parliament had "special responsibility" for combating antisemitism given the continent's history and the current rise in incidents. "It's hugely questionable why they would not let us have a separate group on this issue right now," she said.

L'humoriste, en visite en Israël où vit sa belle-famille, a donné une interview pour i24news

"En France, je me fais amplement insulter et menacer quand je prends position pour Israël", a déclaré l'humoriste, réalisateur et acteur français Dany Boon, dans une interview pour l'émission Culture d'i24news mercredi.

Ce fils de kabyle chrétien converti au judaïsme il y a 13 ans et marié à une juive française, qui "souhaite venir plus souvent en Israël", s'est dit inquiet de la montée de l'antisémitisme en France, et "partout dans le monde", a-t-il insisté.  Boon, de son vrai nom Daniel Hamidou, né d'un père Kabyle et d'une mère catholique, raconte que les clichés antisémites en France ont la dent dure.

"Les gens font des raccourcis, des amalgames, j'entends souvent 'maintenant que vous êtes juif vous êtes devenu très riche'", confie-t-il. "Mais je réplique 'd'abord j'étais déjà très riche quand j'étais catholique, ensuite je connais des Juifs pauvres".  Suite

Depuis 1949, les pays de la Convention de Genève n’ont condamné qu’un seul pays: Israël !

Mais on entend partout en Europe qu'on ne peut pas critiquer Israël...  que le lobby juif est trop puissant, que la liberté d'expression est muselée par les sionistes etc.

Propagande antisémite répugnante dans les rues d'Amsterdam (vidéo)

Algemeiner et le site israélien 0404 rapportent qu'un touriste israélien qui se promenait récemment dans le centre d'Amsterdam fut abasourdi de voir un important étalage de propagande antisémite en arabe.  Visiblement c'est devenu tout à fait normal au point que ça ne suscite même pas de réactions.  L'hostilité envers les Juifs et Israël est omniprésente surtout dans les quartiers où habitent des musulmans.

Par ailleurs, un sondage révèle que de nombreuses tensions traversent la société.  Les Néerlandais se font peu d'illusions sur les problèmes du pays et 85% estiment que leurs élites sont responsables de la situation.  "The Social and Cultural Planning Bureau has polled 3,000 Dutchmen. 60% of those polled see tensions between Autochtonuos (native) Dutchmen and those of immigrant origins. Many see tensions between religious groups, between the poor and the rich, and between workers and employers. Two-thirds of the Dutch think that the Netherlands is moving in the wrong direction. Of these people, 85% blame the country’s elite, politicians, managers and the economically powerful. Un témoin a confié à la Capitale: "Je pense qu’ils ont pris le triangle sur la façade pour le sceau de Salomon" et que c'est ce symbole juif qui aurait été visé.

C’est un acte de vandalisme peu habituel, pour ne pas dire exceptionnel, qui a été commis lundi soir à deux pas de la place des Martyrs. Des jeunes ont jeté une pierre pour casser la vitre d’un temple maçonnique, celui des Amis Philanthropes, situé rue du Persil.  Un témoin pense qu’il pourrait s’agir d’une confusion. Le triangle qui orne la façade pourrait avoir été confondu avec un symbole juif.
